A Custom Runner Carried Across Treads and a Turned Landing
This Long Beach home's staircase turns at a mid-level landing before continuing to the second floor, which meant the runner needed to change direction cleanly without breaking the visual line of the border.
We fabricated a custom bordered runner and carried it across the full landing before continuing it down the lower flight, keeping the border mitered and consistent through the turn.

The Challenge
The turned landing meant the runner had to change direction while keeping its border width and pattern consistent, with a clean, mitered transition where the two flights met at the landing.
Our Solution
Our installers planned the runner as one continuous piece across both flights and the landing, mitering the border at the turn so the transition reads as a single, deliberate design rather than two separate runs.
Our installation included:
- Full staircase and landing measurement
- Border and material selection
- Custom cutting and mitered fabrication
- Precision installation across both flights
- Final alignment check at the landing turn

The Finished Result
The finished staircase reads as one continuous, tailored runner from top to bottom, with the mitered landing transition adding a level of craftsmanship that's immediately noticeable.
